Description

A stunning and futuristic razor, offered by us in the satin brushed chrome finish. This is a big, heavy razor with a long handle. It's not all about looks though - the Futur is also adjustable, from a mild to an aggressive shave, to suit all beard types.
The MERKUR Futur is a timeless work of art designed and manufactured in GERMANY since 1986. After attaching a razor blade with the Duo Clip, a rotation on the handle is sufficient to precisely adjust the shaving angle and blade gap to your exact needs. All you need to get that perfect shave!
You can adjust the distance between blade and comb with a quick rotation of the handle. This way you can tune the thoroughness of the shave to your personal preference. For example, you can work long hair with a large blade gap, while the daily facial shave can be done with a gentle blade setting.

Suitable for "my purpose", but now a temporary razor

I bought this so that I could try differing gaps and blades to help me decide what blade and spacing works best for my skin and beard type. What I didn't expect was the "push on" top section. I am new to DE Single blade shaving but from what I have read the blade being firmly fixed is very important to stop "chatter" or blade movement. This particular item relies on a piece of spring steel wire and "button" to hold the blade. That's likely the least secure form of holding the blade securely across any manufacturer. Whilst the ability to adjust the blade depth has a use I feel the design could be much better. The quality of manufacture is not lacking as it's great to hold in the hand and does as intended from an adjustment point of view. However I'm giving it away and buying something that will suit long term use. Great concept, but not great design.

Back to the Future

After becoming irritated by the cost of disposables I thought with some trepidation I might try safety razors again after a hiatus of 40 odd yrs.
This razor gives a great shave and is largely comfortable to use. For me, the one flaw I found was the handle is just slightly short for my preference.
Otherwise - grand!
